Over the past 4 years, I’ve had an opportunity to work with John Valentine in a variety of capacities and venues, and each time he has delivered a top-notch, wonderfully received and high quality performance. John is extremely easy to work with, very accommodating, and a true professional in the music industry. His creativity and flexibility to work in a variety of genres and venues is a true asset and his wonderful sound will resonate with any audience that he performs for.

I originally had approached John when working at the Bishop Museum, and needed to put together a series of entertainment for our annual Candy Cane Lane event. In looking around for what I could do that would make sense for both the audience and our venue itself, I kept seeing his name. And when I contacted him, not only was he extremely accommodating, but he really listened to what our needs were for the event and suggested an idea that fit so perfectly. The end result with him teaming with his son Daniel was so well received that we continued to get compliments about the wonderful performance weeks after the event. We were lucky to have gotten in contact with him, and with his kind heart he donated his time and talents to our event. In a mark to John’s consistency, he returned the next year and delivered an even better performance. I still can’t thank him enough for that.

When the opportunity presented itself with another event I was putting together, John, as his usual self, again helped me put together something that fit our event perfectly. I was tasked with organizing the entertainment for our annual Best Places to Work Event in March of 2008 and when thinking about what could work, I saw that John had put together an event called Rocken Valentine with Rocky Brown. When I mentioned to him that I thought it could really work for what we needed he acted quick and lined everything up as soon as could be imagined. This all on top what was an extremely busy day for him with two other performances scheduled that day. Again, being extremely accommodating, John rearranged his schedule to fit in what I needed him for, showing up and setting the tone for what was clearly our best event of the year. And even when a conflict had come up with our event and I needed to re-adjust the time, John was extremely easy to work with and made the change and delivered on everything he had said. The performance was wonderful and I look forward to working with John a lot more in the future.

More importantly, I highly recommend him as an entertainer and a person you should work with.

Dear John,

Everyone enjoyed themselves, especially your music. A lot asked where I found you and Yvette, I shared that I was fortunate to have enjoyed your sweet voices and instrumentals at a 50th wedding anniversary and we all sat and ate the same table.

John, I cannot thank you enough for being available for our event at such short notice. In all my 10 years of employment at Bacon Universal Co. Inc. I was given an opportunity to coordinating our companies Christmas party. I will always remember my Grandparent’s words, that the best way to get people to enjoy a party that you’re planning is to have delicious food and fabulous entertainment. You and I both know the significant of how classical entertainers can capture the hearts and soul of an audience…and you both surely did it. “The Power of Two” John Valentine and Yvette Nii…you’re AWESOME.

Good Luck on future endeavors and please keep in touch. I will forward your business information to all. Thank you again for your CD….I Love your voices. Merry Christmas to you and I wish you a prosperous New Year.

Thank You,

Wedding Testimonial #2

My wife and I had our wedding in Hawaii in June. We decided to have the ceremony at the Halekulani, the only choice. The hard part was finding a musician. We live on the east coast so we had to rely on our wedding planner to point us in the right direction. She provided us with a list of musicians but on paper they all looked good. She eventually recommended John(Valentine). The only thing we knew about John we obtained from his website. We listened to some of his music and read his bio. My wife and I both liked what we read and heard. We decided to hire John along with a hula dancer. Needless to say John was wonderful. He played for the ceremony and reception. Everyone loved the music, both Hawaiian and western. Plus the hula dancer was a hit. It was amazing to see so many people taking impromptu hula lessons. My wife and I highly recommend John. He made our wedding very memorable.

To: John Valentine of Hawaii Music Services

Thanks John for making our day special. We trusted you to set the tone for the wedding and you delivered a wonderful experience. All of our guests from the mainland, Canada and Hawaii enjoyed the diverse mix of flavor and style you were able to smoothly perform. It was like you personally knew everyone at the wedding and were able to please them all at once with every song. We both appreciated how professional, personable, and accommodating you are and how easily we get along, not just with us but with all our other vendors that day. The personal touches you added from the beginning of our ceremony through the end of our reception made it even more unique. And the way you performed as a duet with Rocky Brown made it our own private concert. It has been 2 months since our wedding and people are still talking about how much they enjoyed it, even during other people’s weddings.

We enjoy your music and will catch you at one of your venues or at another wedding!
Thanks John,
Matt and Vanessa Dasalla

John Valentine gave a great performance for our wedding ceremony at Sunset Beach. He was able to blend his local style into the dance floor, then he was flexible enough to change location to the beach for the formal vows and the romantic music.

Beyond the music, John is professional and punctual with his time and he spent time prior to the event to insure he was meeting our expectations. He took some or our requests and add suggestions for a few of his own. He has a wide range of instrumental only and vocal varieties of music to choose from.

By the end of our event, John extended his time with us without asking for additional funds. We did bribe him with dinner! So he does have a weakness for great fish.

I found John's information based on a referral from another guitarist on the island. I would recommend John for a variety of events and I would use him again without hesitation.
